The Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women (formerly the Soroptimist Making a Difference for Women Award), honors ordinary women, who through their professional or personal activities, make extraordinary efforts to improve the lives of women and girls. These women’s efforts help promote issues that are important to the Soroptimist organization.

Past Recipients of this distinguished award have included: Shirley Temple Black, Princess Diana, and Linda Faistein. All of these women have been the “Best for Women.”
A talented woman, Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of “Issues” on HLN has made it her mission to have a voice for women and girls and through her personal and professional life has been an advocate for combating the “War on Women!” Jane, a member of our club was our honoree in 2010.

Soroptimist International Southwest Washington’s 2011 Ruby Award Honoree is Alexis Del Cid. We were thrilled to honor Alexis Del Cid, from CBS’ Koin Local6 in Portland with our Ruby Award this year!  Click here for her resume.
