The Soroptimist Ruby Award: For Women Helping Women (formerly the Soroptimist Making a Difference for Women Award), honors ordinary women, who through their professional or personal activities, make extraordinary efforts to improve the lives of women and girls. These women’s efforts help promote issues that are important to the Soroptimist organization.
Past Recipients of this distinguished award have included: Shirley Temple Black, Princess Diana, and Linda Faistein. All of these women have been the “Best for Women” and on January 9, 2010 our honoree will be among these women who went the distance in making a difference for women! A talented woman, Jane Velez-Mitchell, host of “Issues” on HLN has made it her mission to have a voice for women and girls and through her personal and professional life has been an advocate for combating the “War on Women!”
Soroptimist International Southwest Washington and SI Vancouver, Washington are proud to recognize Jane Velez-Mitchell as their 2010 Ruby Award Honoree! Jane was given her award during the Annual Soroptimist Human Trafficking Conference this past January.
